a lack of color

i guess it's not a completely original observation... but it's funny how much we're all the same. all humans, in all places, from all times. i would say of all humans that have ever lived 95% differ by only 5% if that.

we all want essentially the same things from life, we deal with the same struggles, we deal with the same interpersonal bullshit, we have the same basic flaws and the same basic virtues.

so it's interesting that despite only a ~5% difference, that we hone in on that and kill each other over it, as if the other person's 5% difference makes them a non-human. how much more similar could we all possibly be?

i think if all human beings looked identical, shared a single culture and religion, had the same tastes in art and food, and the same opinion of all politics, but were separated because 50% of the population had a freckle on one cheek and 50% didn't, two factions would form and war against each other over the freckle. i honestly 100% believe that would happen.
