i think these tags can have a defined space and still be dynamic. let their space be shared, and have the implementations have facilities for the creation of key and value pairs. it shouldn't be pre-set. different types of tags are appropriate for different types of music. a well-maintained catalog of classical music cannot be constructed using the latest standard, as an example. the whole premise of id3 is flawed. i wonder what they're doing about this.
